The SARS-CoV-2 antibody test is used to detect antibody formation after COVID 19 infection. Antibodies cannot be detected in the acute stage of the disease, but only become detectable after a few weeks in the course. This antibody test can be performed in addition to PCR tests, lung X-rays and other diagnostic methods in the diagnosis of COVID-19. It can be used to study serostatus in an individual and for population-based sero-epidemiological studies. This antibody test cannot be used as the sole diagnostic method to confirm a COVID-19 infection, but should be used in conjunction with the clinical diagnosis / other testing methods depending on where the patient is in the course of the disease.
